Joana has been familiar with discipline and perseverance since childhood. In addition to consistently achieving excellent grades, her studies in piano and ballet evolved from a hobby into a personal challenge that she pursued, enjoyed, and worked on diligently every day.
This is who she is: studious, tenacious, persevering, a tireless worker, and reflective, leaving nothing to chance. Perhaps her scientific family background has shaped her in this direction.
Joana is also warm and approachable. Her countless friends know her as attentive, caring, and affectionate—qualities she extends to her patients. She prioritises their involvement in their family-building journey, giving them time and freedom to reflect and make decisions.
Since her residency, Joana has been captivated by reproduction. Her interest may have been influenced by the struggles of close relatives to conceive. She deeply empathises with the pain of those who long to be mothers but cannot be. This empathy has driven her to specialise in one of the most complex issues in reproductive medicine today - uterine pathology.
