Fertilisation of Oocytes in an In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) Treatment
100% Focused on You
Oocyte fertilisation is a crucial step in an In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment. FIV Valencia is one of Spain's most experienced centres in IVF, specialising in both conventional and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) IVF with outstanding success rates.
Conventional IVF is less invasive than ICSI. The main advantages of conventional IVF are its high fertilisation rates, excellent embryo quality, and higher pregnancy success rates.
At FIV Valencia, your doctor will guide you on the most suitable treatment for your case and determine if conventional IVF is the most appropriate method to achieve a healthy pregnancy.
Oocyte Fertilisation Techniques in IVF
Among IVF treatments, we use two primary techniques for oocyte fertilisation:
Conventional IVF
- Mimics natural fertilisation. Sperm inseminate oocytes in the lab.
- Suitable when sperm parameters are normal or only slightly altered.
- Closely resembles the natural process. FIV Valencia specialises in this minimally invasive technique.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
- Involves the direct microinjection of a single sperm into the oocyte, ensuring precision in cases of male infertility.
- Recommended in cases of low sperm quality (motility, concentration, or morphology).
- Also used for vitrified eggs, surgically obtained sperm samples, or after failed conventional IVF attempts.
Costs of Specialised Laboratory Techniques
At FIV Valencia, the doctor will recommend the techniques necessary to maximise the success rate of your treatment in a fully personalised way.
In our clinic, the choice of fertilisation technique (conventional IVF or ICSI) does not affect the overall price. The cost remains the same for both methods.
During your initial consultation, we will provide a detailed cost breakdown, so you can make an informed decision about incorporating these advanced methods into your treatment plan.
